At-home face sculpting devices promise a fix to puffy mornings and fine lines without an expensive trip to the spa. But the choices are confusing. Some use light, some use gentle electrical currents, and some combine massage, warmth, and attachments that cost extra. List prices range from under $200 to over $400. So which one is actually worth it?

We compared four of the most popular devices: the REVO Face Genie, Solawave 4-in-1 Wand, NuFACE TRINITY+, and Therabody TheraFace PRO. We evaluated each on features, research and results, routine and convenience, and price and value. One came out as the clear winner. Read on to find out which.

What To Look For In Face Sculpting Devices

We judged every device on the same four things.

  • Features: The best devices offer several treatments, such as light therapy, heat, massage, or microcurrent (a very gentle electrical current that works the facial muscles), without requiring you to buy extra attachments.
  • Research and results: Results you can trust come from testing the actual device over several weeks, ideally with a dermatologist checking the skin, not just users saying how they feel.
  • Routine and convenience: A device only works if you use it often, so short sessions, easy setup, and little extra product make a big difference.
  • Price and value: The fairest comparison looks at what you pay today, what comes in the box, and what you'll keep paying for, like gels or serums.

Let's see how REVO, Solawave, NuFACE, and Therabody compare.

Face Sculpting Devices Compared

Features: Therabody and REVO Tie With a Wide Array of Features

TheraFace PRO packs the most treatments into one kit.

The more treatments a device covers, the more of your skin goals it can tackle. Light therapy targets things like fine lines and breakouts, microcurrent works on tone and lift, and massage helps with puffiness. We looked at what each device can do straight out of the box.

🥇 Tied winner: Therabody TheraFace PRO. TheraFace PRO covers the most ground, with six treatments in one kit. Its microcurrent helps firm and tighten skin and tone the muscles in your face and neck. Red, blue, and infrared light work on fine lines, wrinkles, and mild to moderate acne. Three massage heads ease tension in your face, jaw, neck, and forehead, and a cleansing ring lets you wash your face with your usual cleanser.¹,²

🥇 Tied winner: REVO Face Genie. REVO gives you three light colors in one head (red for firming, blue for breakouts, and green for dark spots and redness), plus warmth and sonic vibration. Everything is built in, so there's nothing to swap. It doesn't offer microcurrent, but otherwise matches Therabody's range of treatments in a single product.³

🥈 Runner-up: Solawave 4-in-1 Wand. Solawave combines red light, warmth, vibration, and galvanic current (a steady, mild current that helps skincare products absorb better). Galvanic current isn't the same as microcurrent, which works the facial muscles for tone and lift, so Solawave doesn't offer that treatment. Everything is built in, but it has only one light color.⁴

❌ Third: NuFACE TRINITY+. The starter kit focuses on microcurrent, with adjustable strength and a boost button. Red light and the lip and eye attachment are sold separately, so you only get one treatment out of the box.⁵

Research & Results: Solawave Wins with a Dermatologist-Assessed Study

🥇 The winner: Solawave 4-in-1 Wand. In Solawave's eight-week test, people used the wand five times a week, and a dermatologist assessed their skin alongside their own feedback. Most said their skin looked more radiant and had fewer visible fine lines. It was tested with Solawave's serum, the same way you'd use it at home.⁴ Solawave is FDA-cleared to treat fine lines and wrinkles,⁶ and its red light is the best-supported treatment here, though it's the only light color it offers.

🥈 Runner-up: Therabody TheraFace PRO. Therabody ran the longest test, 12 weeks of daily use, and most people saw fewer wrinkles and age spots. The routine included the heat and cold rings, which don't come in the box, so your results with the standard kit may differ.⁷ It's also FDA-cleared, though Therabody doesn't say for which treatments.¹ It has the most research-backed features of the four, including red light for fine lines and blue light for pimples.

🥉 Third: REVO Face Genie. REVO reports that most users saw fewer fine lines and better contours, though that comes from users' own feedback rather than a dermatologist's assessment.³ Its strength is the light itself. Red light has the most research of its three colors. Dermatologists say studies show it can give subtle to noticeable results on fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and rough skin, and in one study, people who had eight red light treatments over four weeks mostly reported smoother, softer skin. Results take time, though, and at-home devices are harder to judge than in-office ones.⁸ Blue light can treat pimples (but not blackheads, whiteheads, or cysts), and the FDA has cleared some at-home blue light devices for that use.⁹ Green light is the least proven of the three. REVO uses it for dark spots and redness, but there are no clinical studies of at-home green light devices..¹⁰

❌ Fourth: NuFACE TRINITY+. NuFACE's microcurrent is FDA-cleared, but its results come from user questionnaires, where most people said their cheeks looked more contoured and lifted 15 minutes after a treatment. That shows a short-term effect, not how your skin changes over weeks of use.⁵ Microcurrent also has the thinnest independent research of these treatments.¹¹

Routine & Convenience: REVO Wins with the Simplest Daily Routine

REVO offers the Simplest Daily Routine

Most of these brands say results take weeks of steady use. That means the best device is the one you'll actually pick up most days.

🥇 The winner: REVO Face Genie. A session takes 5 to 10 minutes a day, and the device switches itself off when you're done. It's wireless and waterproof enough to use in the shower, and it works with your usual skincare rather than a special gel. There are no attachments to change.³

🥈 Runner-up: NuFACE TRINITY+. NuFACE takes at least 5 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for the first 60 days, then 2 or 3 times a week to maintain results. You need to apply its activator gel first, since microcurrent only works through a conductive layer (a gel that lets the current reach your skin).⁵

🥉 Third: Solawave 4-in-1 Wand. Solawave takes three minutes per of the four areas, or 12 minutes in total, three to five times a week. It's designed to be used with its activating serum, which isn't included, and it shouldn't go in water.⁴

❌ Fourth: Therabody TheraFace PRO. Each treatment (microcurrent, light, or cleansing) runs for up to 8 minutes, so session time depends on how many you use, and switching between them means changing attachments.² Therabody doesn't give a set number of days per week, though people in its study used it daily.⁷ Microcurrent requires conductive gel, and each attachment needs to be cleaned. It's the most versatile, but also the most involved.¹

Price & Value: REVO Wins with the Lowest Cost to Get Started

Sale prices come and go, so we compared each device's full list price. We also counted what you need to get started, like the gels or serums some devices are designed to use.

🥇 The winner: REVO Face Genie. The Face Genie lists at $195. That includes a full-size REVO Collagen Jelly (a $50 value), free shipping, and a two-year warranty. Because it works with your usual skincare, there's no need for a refill.

🥈 Runner-up: Solawave 4-in-1 Wand. The wand alone lists at $169, the lowest device price here. But it's designed to be used with its activating serum, which isn't included, and the wand and serum kit lists at $207.⁴

🥉 Third: NuFACE TRINITY+. The starter kit lists at $395. It includes two activator gels, and refills start at $35. The red light attachment is sold separately for $160, which brings the total to $555 if you want both treatments.⁵,¹²

❌ Fourth: Therabody TheraFace PRO. At $419.99, it's the most expensive. One tube of conductive gel and six attachments are included. The heat and cold rings used in Therabody's study are sold separately for $109.99 as a set.¹³ Therabody doesn't currently sell gel refills on its own site, and retailers list a 3.4 oz tube at about $30.¹⁴ It comes with a one-year warranty.¹

At list price, REVO is the lowest-cost way to get started, with skincare and a two-year warranty included.

Conclusion: REVO Is Our Clear Winner

After comparing REVO, Solawave, NuFACE, and Therabody, we found one winner that's the easiest to use every day and the best value for the money. And that's the REVO Face Genie.

You get red, blue, and green light, warmth, and sonic vibration in one waterproof head, with no attachments or special gel.
