Sonic dermaplaning is surprisingly easy to do yourself. In fact, the entire process only takes about 5-10 minutes, and you only need to do it once every 1-2 weeks.
After two weeks of letting her hair grow, Alex tried the Dermaflash Luxe+, which took just 5 minutes. The results were immediately noticeable.
The Luxe+ removed all of Alex’s facial hair, minimized her pores, and left her skin smooth and glowing. She described the experience as a “5-minute facial.” “My skin looks brighter and feels smoother. My face looks and feels a few years younger,” she added.

Rather than smoothly gliding across skin, the blade tugged in a few spots. The net result was skin irritation. “It burned a bit, and my skin was red after” claimed Alex. “I won’t be using it again.”

Michael Todd Beauty’s Sonicsmooth Pro+ also has a safety guard; but the blade is a standard razor head and does not contour to the face. “It’s kind of like a drugstore razor with a motor,” said our tester, Alex. After using the Dermaflash “it feels a bit flimsy.”
